Our Vision

3DMedia Corporation develops 3D technologies and software that create new categories of 3D products in the consumer market.

Overview

3D images and movies create an immersive and dramatic visual experience that will completely revolutionize the way consumers view content. With advances in digital imaging, the obstacles which hindered the development of 3D technology over the past decades have now been eliminated. 3D will soon become the technology of choice for entertainment content. Consumers will enjoy the 3D experience in many forms, including both Hollywood movies and their favorite moments captured with personal cameras. 3D-enabled HDTVs will enter consumer households in high volumes in a few years, followed shortly by a procession of 3D consumer products to supplement this trend.

3DMedia Corporation plans to play a vital role in the development and commercialization of consumer-oriented 3D products. 3DMedia Corporation's staff has in-depth knowledge of multimedia technology and is on the leading edge of 3D development. 3DMedia is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA.

History

3DMedia was established in 2009 from staff members who have worked together for over 15 years on the development and design of multimedia products. Between 1995 and 1998 the group was part of Data Communications Technologies (DCT), where they designed semiconductors and products for the videoconferencing market. In 1998, DCT was purchased by Atmel Corporation. From 1998 to 2007 the group was known as the Multimedia Business Unit within Atmel Corporation and was responsible for Digital Still Camera, HDTV playback, and other multimedia products ranging from set-top boxes to application processors for the mobile market. In 2007, the group was divested to Insilica Inc. and was responsible for the design and implementation of Digital Picture Frame products. Over the past 8 years the group's endeavors allowed for sales of millions of multimedia semiconductor devices to tier-one consumer manufacturers.

During the past 15 years, 3DMedia staff has been heavily involved in the specification, design, and productization of multimedia technologies in the areas of:

  • Digital Cameras
  • HDTVs
  • Set-top Boxes
  • Digital Picture Frames
  • Multimedia Projectors
  • Multimedia Mobile Phones
  • Media Servers and Personal Video Recorders
