Tassos Markas, Ph.D., President & CEO
Tassos has over 25 years of experience in the technology and semiconductor arenas. In 2009 he founded 3DMedia, which is developing leading-edge technologies to create, view, and distribute 3D content. Prior to 3DMedia, Tassos was Managing Director of Multimedia Products at Insilica, responsible for the development of integrated circuits, software, and systems for emerging multimedia markets. Before joining Insilica, Tassos served as Multimedia Director at Atmel, where he was responsible for all multimedia IC products including digital cameras, HDTVs, set-top boxes, and mobile phones. In 1995, he co-founded and directed the engineering division of Data Communications Technologies, a start-up company that was eventually sold to Atmel. Throughout his career, Tassos has been involved at all levels of the product cycle, including business development, marketing, sales, product development, research, and logistics. Tassos holds PhD and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in Durham, NC, as well as a BS degree in Physics from University of Athens in Athens, Greece.
Chris Whitten, Vice President, Finance & Planning
Chris has over 15 years of experience and has been responsible for devising and implementing internal control and system policies and procedures for finance, customer service, import/export, and human resources. As a planning manager for Insilica, Chris handled the planning (inventory purchasing, customer orders, and customer communications) for the entire company, as well as fiscal management of the NC location. Prior to inSilica, she served for 9 years as planning and office manager at Atmel Corporation for both the NC and Greece offices. Chris has a BS in Accounting from Wesleyan College.
Michael McNamer, Ph.D., Chief Technical Officer
Mike is in charge of algorithmic development of the 3D technologies for both images and videos. He has over 15 years of experience in the technology and semiconductor spaces, and as Video Design Manager at both Insilica and Atmel, was responsible for the specification, architecture, and implementation of all video codec development. He and his team were responsible for the creation of first-silicon successful video and still image codec implementations for five consecutive IC designs. Mike holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and an MS degree in Biomedical Engineering from UNC in Chapel Hill, NC.
Jason Hurst, Vice President, General Manager of PC Products
Jason has 12 years of experience as a project manager for multimedia electronic designs. He is in charge of PC-based products. With Insilica, he managed System-on-Chip designs for the Digital Photo Frame market which incorporated custom image and video processing logic. While at Atmel, he directed designs of many products that attracted new customers and helped establish the success of the Multimedia business unit. He has been involved in all stages of hardware development projects, from defining the architecture to working with physical designers and product engineers to bring the design to production. Jason holds an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in Auburn, AL.
